Meet your Salem Branch Officers


The Salem Branch of the Willamette Valley Chapter of the Project Management Institute elected the following officers for the 2010 year.


Jon Lazarus, MBA, PMP
Interim-President

Jon works as a Research Coordinator for Construction & Maintenance at the Oregon Department of Transportation. Jon has a Bachelors of Engineering (Offshore/Civil) from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, and an MBA from Atkinson Graduate School of Management (Willamette University). Jon obtained his PMP certification while working for the state in 2005. Jon accepted the president's role in 2008 after serving on the board for a number of years. Jon's hobbies include spending time with his 2 daugthers, playing/coaching basketball, and SCUBA diving.
 
Jack Doyle, PMP
VP of Communications
 
Jack currently works for the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS), as a Senior Enterprise Architect. His initial experience in project management came while conducting scientific research at the University of Arizona and then for New York University. He continued managing scientific research projects for Northrup Technical Services and then ManTech Environmental Technology, where he was the lead ManTech scientist on projects investigating the ecological effects of genetically engineered microorganisms in the terrestrial environment. Jack received his Oregon State Project Manager (OSPM) certification and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in 1999, while working for DHS. From 2002-2004, he served as VP of Special Projects for the Willamette Valley Chapter of PMI.

Ericka Haas
VP of Marketing

Ericka Haas has a BS in Computer Science from Western Oregon and has taken graduate classes at the Oregon Graduate Institute towards a Masters of Management in Information Technology. During a Project Management class, she finally discovered what she really wanted to do when she grows up. That realization led to taking her current position with the Secretary of State's office in 2007 as a Business Analyst for the Elections Division, which combines project management with systems analysis and design. Prior to that she worked as a computer programmer with a small software company for 10 years and with her new project management knowledge realized that she had been doing project management for years. Ericka lives in Salem with her husband, daughter, and several furry, four-legged family members.



Donna Wimer
VP of Finance

Donna Wimer has a BS from Linfield in Business Information Systems, which is a program that combines computer information studies with management courses. She currently works as a Senior Project Manager at Oregon Judicial Department. Donna has 20+ years in Information Technology and over 10 years as a project manager. Both the Oregon State Project Manager (OSPM) and PMP certification were obtained while working for the state in 2001. Donna’s interests include spending time with her family, including the four-leggers, Sudoku, hiking, marathons, motorcycling, cooking and reading.

Clyde Raymer Jr., PMP
Director of Certifications
Clyde recently moved his family and organization, Complex Project Mgmt Services, from Alaska to Oregon to work more closely with Telecommunication providers in their desire to deploy wireless access sites. Clyde has 20+ years in the recovery of Challenged (RED) projects in Engineering and Operation of Telecommunication, Surveillance, Tracking and Deployment of critical resources to remote locations most recently Alaska, Canada and Bering Sea islands. His memberships include IEEE, PMI and the Association of Old Crows. Working with General Communications Inc, in Anchorage, Alaska, Clyde managed the deployment of infrastructure and maintenance services to over 400 sites over the course of 9 years including Lonely, Alaska. While in Alaska, Clyde was part of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race coordinator team that organized 1400+ volunteers for the month long event. He attended the Feb 2009 PMP Salem prep class then received his PMP Certification in June 2007. He vows to keep up PDUs to avoid the test. His free time is spent as his daughter’s soccer coach, kayaking, camping, target shooting, sled dog competitions and being the best husband to his wife. He appreciates the opportunity to give back to the PM community with volunteer service.


Sheryl Morrison
VP of Programs
Sheryl Morrison currently works as the manager of the Project Management Office (PMO) for the Oregon Judicial Department.  The PMO coordinates and provides oversight of the many information technology projects for the Department.  Sheryl has a Bachelors Degree in English from Seattle Pacific University and started out as a high school English teacher.  She left the teaching career, moved to private industry, and spent many years in the corporate world in roles as Chief Financial Officer, Human Resource Officer, Information Services Manager including management of network infrastructure, desktop, and help desk environments, and business and information technology consultant.  She began formal project management in the early 1990's and worked as a Deputy Manager of Strategic Systems Initiatives overseeing multiple projects prior to joining the Judicial Department.  Sheryl completed her MBA program through the University of Phoenix in October, 2006 and obtained her PMP certification in 2008.  She also completed the Prosci Change Management certification.  She is a member of PMI and has participated in the PMI Salem branch for several years prior to joining the Salem Branch board as Vice-President of Programs in 2009.  Sheryl lives in Salem with her husband and they enjoy biking, hiking, skiing, and vacationing in Mexico each year with their three grown children.


Sarah Miller, PMP
Past President

Sarah recently moved to the Department of Corrections as the Criminal Information System Re-write Project Manager from the State Data Center. Having served as the 2007 Vice President of Professional Development for the Salem Branch, she looks forward to the opportunity to lead the branch for the coming year. She has also been selected by the Chapter Board to be the project manager for the Branch Alignment Project for the Salem, Corvallis, and Eugene branches. Sarah and her husband Matt live in Silverton with their two year old son Mateo.
