As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll manage the full lifecycle implementation of large-scale, global projects. You’ll partner with business stakeholders to define project goals, scope, approach, budget, and risk mitigation plan and communications strategy. As well as align business processes across multiple stakeholder groups, and facilitate the creation and execution of project plans. You’ll use Lean and Transition Management methods to continually improve the project and team’s performance.

Requirements/Skills:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field, or 2 years’ additional relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree
  • 5 years’ professional experience within business, IT or a related field
  • 3 years’ experience with full lifecycle project management
  • Experience managing projects on a global scale
  • Strong project management methodology and project lifecycle understanding, preferably Cadence or other equivalent PMI-based methodology
  • Excellent leadership and written/verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate with both business and technical audiences
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to interact with senior management
  • Excellent collaboration and team working skills required
  • Demonstrated experience working in collaborative teams within a complex-matrixed organization
  • Experience in planning, managing, and monitoring both waterfall and non-waterfall SDLC projects (some Agile or RUP experience is a plus)
  • Experience with end-to-end business processes in supply chain is preferred
  • Experience with Lean and Transition Management tools and methodology
  • Project management certification (PMP) is highly desired

PMO Director Position at ORCAS

Oregon Center for Applied Science (ORCAS)
Position Title:    Director of Project Management
Reports to:        President and CEO
Supervises:       TBD

 

Summary:   This exempt position is responsible for providing direction and leadership in the planning and administration of cross-ORCAS projects as they transition from conceptual ideas to finished products. Includes internal projects and those that require integration and planning with external partners.


Job Duties:

  • Designing and implementing organization-wide work management/work-flow processes and measurement parameters to evaluate business and organizational performance, specifically including metrics, management dashboards and resource planning and allocation including oversight of project budgets
  • Identifying problems associated with bottle-necks, project tracking and reporting; may be involved in problem resolution. Regularly updates President and department heads on status; identifies “red flag” issues that require management attention
  • Gathering and consolidating reports from technology department, production department, and science/product managers and commercialization  
  • Preparing status reports for President and other department heads as needed. Identify problems and resolve or report as needed
  • Modeling best practices of project management and assisting other project managers with project flow, MS Project or other support
  • Maintain master schedule across ORCAS including resource planning and allocation, which will require coordination with department heads
  • Performs other duties as required by the position including assisting the President on assigned projects

Job Qualifications and Requirements


Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

Ability to manage multiple tasks. Establish effective interpersonal relationships and communication with a wide variety of stakeholders (both within and outside the organization) in order to work through complex issues, identify alternatives, and recommend viable solutions so that that timelines are met and desired results are achieved, without compromising the integrity of those involved.  Ability to apply project management principles, practices, and tools sufficient to devise project management governance and policy across the organization. Ability to enforce policies and practices, in order to drive decisions and achieve results, in an environment impacted by changing direction and different levels of development. Exceptional skills in computer functions (MS Project, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, page layout); graphics and editing experience a plus.  The ability to think in terms of long term ramifications and to demonstrate good judgment, initiative, resourcefulness and attention to detail. Basic technical understanding of interface design, CD and website development, and quality assurance.  Clear understanding of business and marketing principles. Ability to supervise the work of other persons on the administrative staff.  Must be able to drive results in the face of resistance/lack of understanding. Executive presence. Ability to progress to broader levels of responsibility.  High level of maturity. 


Education and Experience:

BA, or equivalent, required, Masters a plus. At least 5 years of business and marketing experience and 5 years of project management. Experience with interactive multimedia production and commercialization processes. PMI certification desirable. Key is that the person understands project management but has a broader business perspective. Ideally, they have worked in an environment where the organization experienced a business and cultural transformation. Has designed and implemented a project management process within an organization of similar size and complexity.

 

Working Conditions:

Generally works in office environment.  Will work in contact with supervisors, public, and co-workers.  May need to work flexible hours and days to accommodate all phases of project. May need to travel.

  10. That each employee will be provided the resources needed to accomplish the assigned tasks.
  11. That each employee will seek to develop the knowledge and/or technical skills needed to accomplish the assigned tasks and that ORCAS will provide the professional development support needed to acquire the new knowledge and/or technical skills.
  12. That if any of the above expectations of supervisors are not met, the employee will communicate her/his concern directly to the supervisor in a timely way and work with the supervisor to develop a plan to resolve the concern. IT Project Manager

About the Job

Job Duties:

Datalogic Scanning, a world leader in state-of-the-art automated data collection systems, has an immediate opening for an IT Project Manager.  Work with business process owners to translate business requirements into technical requirements, both for SAP and non-SAP applications.  Configure SAP to meet business requirements.  Manage large enhancement projects and other SAP deployment projects.  Write technical program specifications and end-user documentation.  Assist in training end-users. 


Experience:

 

  • 5+ years experience in SAP Materials Management (MM) and Production Planning (PP) module in a multi-plant environment.
  • Strong experience in at least one other module in SAP, preferably SD or CO.
  • At least one full cycle implementation of SAP.
  • Experience with at least two different companies/client sites, in two different styles of manufacturing (repetitive, engineer to order, make to stock, configure to order, etc).
  • 3+ years experience working on the business side in related job tasks, such as working as a scheduler, production supervisor, or production control manager.  Management experience preferred.
  • Some international experience on either the business side or the SAP side.
  • Working independently, with little or no direct supervision on technical issues.
  • Experience working with director-level personnel from the business side.

 

SAP Functional Skills:

 

  • SOP, MRP, MPS in a multi-plant environment – required.
  • IMG experience with production orders – required.
  • IMG experience with available to promise – required.
  • IMG experience with purchasing – preferred.
  • IMG experience with consumption-based planning, including forecasting and automatic reorder point planning – preferred.
  • IMG experience with warehouse management – required.
  • IMG experience configuring requirement types, production orders, and requirements transfer from SD to PP – preferred.
  • Experience working with IDOCS, or with some type of EDI with vendors or with 3PL logistics providers.

 

Project Management Skills:

 

  • Ability to manage cross-departmental projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Provide work direction to three or more project team members, who do not directly report to you.
  • Proven experience completing large IT projects on schedule and on budget as well as meeting scope requirements.
  • Ability to work with the business side to limit scope creep on projects.

 

Training and Certification:

 

  • APICS certification – preferred.
